Sister Marise ministered in the midwest as kindergarten teacher for 19 years and as principal for five years at Corpus Christi, New York City. She was in social service at Sacred Heart Parish, Washington, D.C.; at DePorres Health Center, Marks, Miss.; and a clinical therapist at Sinnissippi Mental Health Center, Dixon, Ill. In 1992, she was elected Eastern Province Provincial. She later served as school counselor for Catholic Social Services in Fall River, Mass. She came to St. Dominic Villa in 2018.
Sister Marise was born in Chicago, May 25, 1931, to Willard and Catherine (Garrity).
She is survived by nephews and her Dominican sisters.

Dwaine Russell Persels
Dwaine Russell Persels, 87, of Oxford Junction, Iowa passed away on February 6, 2019 at the Anamosa Care Center.
To honor Dwaine's life a visitation will be held at Lahey and Dawson Funeral Home in Oxford Junction on Saturday February 9 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. with Military Honors. A burial will be held at the Mayflower Cemetery following.
Dwaine was born on April 16, 1931, in Osceola, Iowa, to Floyd and Vivian (Farr) Persels. After high school he continued his education and received a Bachelor's Degree from Simpson College and a Master's and Specialist Degrees in Education from Drake University.
He served faithfully and honorably in the United States Army, and during the Korean War he spent one and a half years in Japan.
On September 9 in 1952 Dwaine was united in marriage to Hazel Higbee at Simpson Methodist Church in Des Moines.
Dwaine's career as an educator included positions as a teacher, a coach, and an administrator. He served as superintendent of Oxford Junction Consolidated Schools for 25 years.
Dwaine enjoyed fishing, golfing, reading, and counting ribs. He also cheered for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
He is survived by his children; Jo Ellen (Steven) Benn of Rapid City, SD, Sally (Len) Clapp of Anamosa, Michael (Lisa) Persels of Tiffin, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Hazel, his two brothers Dwight and Darrell, and his granddaughter Rachel.
Memorials may be directed to The American Legion Wapsi Post #473 in his honor.

Dorothy E. Schilling, age 78, of Dubuque, IA passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Stonehill Care Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 9 AM until Mass time at 12 noon at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Fr. Michael Schueller will be presiding. Interment will be offered at St. John's Cemetery, Centralia, IA.
Dorothy was born August 22, 1940 in Graf, IA to her parents, Matthew and Mildred (Cole) Maas. She married the love of her life, Robert "Ace" Schilling, on April 4, 1959 at St. John the Baptist Church in Peosta. Robert preceded her in death on June 8, 2014. Dorothy was best known for taking care of others. She always had a caring heart and put other peoples' needs before her own. Many life lessons were learned from Dorothy. She taught others what it meant to be loving, giving, hardworking, humble, and kind.She enjoyed going to church, camping, gardening, her fish pond, cooking, playing euchre, "Coffee Clutch", stock car races and spending time with family (especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.) Holidays were a big deal at her house. Grandchildren have many fond memories of her extravagant Halloween parties.
